My Life with Food


Hi there, I’m Lauren! I’m married to Arthur and we have two beautiful sons, Oskar who is 4 and Arlo who is 6 months old. I am a Florida native, born and raised in Tampa where we currently live. I am a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) on some days, and a mom romanticizing motherhood, food, DIY and design on all days. 

I started cooking a couple of decades ago and I have continued to do so in an evolving form. Starting out, I just wanted to eat good food I could make for myself. Now, however, I have a deep need to create, and in the kitchen is where my creativity thrives the most. 
When I was thinking about what I wanted to write about myself, I went straight to what my purpose here is. I want to give to others an appreciation and ability to tap in to the joy that is right in front of us, within our reach.

The happiest moments of my life are seeing someone (especially my loved ones) experiencing joy in something they didn’t expect or appreciate, until then. I love cooking food for people with ingredients they’ve never had, or preparations they have never experienced, and seeing their eyes light up.

I’m a 40 yr old working mom and wife and eating and providing meals is something that does not make me unique, but I do think my perspective does.

I have big and little dreams for my little family. International vacations, Michelin star restaurants, as well as homesteading and gardening. In the meantime, I can make a delicious meal and see my husband’s shoulders relax and a smirk come over his face, or hear my son say, “Wow Mommy, this is delicious”. That is enough for now and honestly, it’s enough period. Everything else is just a bonus. 

I really enjoy sharing joy and I can’t wait any longer until things are perfect. My house is a work in progress, my fitness, tidiness, but this is all part of me, (for now at least) and I don’t want to wait any longer to share what it is I think I have to offer. I have no fancy recording equipment, lighting, new kitchen tools, or perfect setup for filming. What I do have is good food to share with you, as well as tips and techniques I’ve picked up along the way from consuming food content for 20 years. I am in no way professionally trained, or would call myself a chef. I’m simply put, a passionate home cook and I hope you find something interesting here!
